Visitors of Summerlin

The annual summer arts festival in Summerlin was held over the weekend at the Summerlin Center Community Park.

The arts festival exhibits the works of 100 artists, both national and local where they can sell their works to the public.  This annual event also features chalk art creations, art projects for kids, ice and fruit sculpture presentations, musical shows, face paints, and other activities that participants and visitors are sure to enjoy.

The event opened over the weekend and opened from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. which is free and open to the public

This annual event has been sponsored by the Howard Hughes Corporation.  The company has a true and deep appreciation for the culture and the arts especially in this master planned community.  Its first ever arts festival was held back in 1993 and the first family to settle in this neighborhood were two years prior.

Besides being a great way for families to spend the weekend, the annual arts fair is also and part of the lifestyle that is found in this neighborhood. It helps unify residents and promotes creativity in everyone.

Residents also get to watch some live shows and performances such as The Academy of Nevada Ballet Theater, Las Vegas Philharmonic, Nevada School of the Arts and other artists.

As different artists display their works, some of these items are also on sale.  This would include paintings, glassworks, jewelry, wood crafts and items that use different media.

The event also features some of the best chalk artists.  Dozens of participants will be showcasing their works, turning the streets of the neighborhoods into dazzling color displays.  One of the local chalk artists, Mr. Donovan Fitzgerald, is a returning and featured chalk artist for this art fair.

The chalk art is also open to those who would like to try to create their own art on the streets.  They can purchase a street square for $5 and start creating their works of art.

Summerlin was a master planned community developed by the Howard Hughes Corp.  The community started in 1990 and has ranked among the country’s best master-planned communities.  This has over 150 neighborhoods and the best trail systems in Nevada.  The communities are also near establishments such as schools, places of worship, and places that provide different type of services.

There are many homes to choose from in Summerlin from the different designs.  For Las Vegas luxury homes to apartments that would suit any homeowner’s taste.
