Carmine’s,
self-described as NYC’s legendary family style Italian restaurant, which claims
to serves one million people a year at the Times Square district in Midtown
Manhattan is planning to open an even bigger location in Las Vegas next year.
Carmine’s
Alicart Restaurant Group plans to take over 26,000 square feet of space at the
Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. The restaurant it will build there will be twice
the size of the Times Square location and once completed will be among the
biggest eateries on the Strip. The envisioned new 800-seat Carmine's in Las
Vegas will take over the space previously occupied by Planet Hollywood. Alicart
signed a 25-year lease with Simon Property Group, which operates the Forum
Shops.
Construction
will begin in January in time for an expected April opening. According to
Jeffrey Bank, chief executive officer of owner Alicart Restaurant Group, as
many as 300 workers will be hired for the construction job. The restaurant
itself will be designed by Bill Johnson, who has worked on the Eiffel Tower
restaurant in Las Vegas, R'evolution in New Orleans and the Ritz-Carlton in his
hometown of Atlanta.
The planned
Carmine's in Las Vegas will feature two levels of dining and private areas for
special events, including a terrace facing the coming Linq entertainment
promenade. It will also have take-out service catered to locals.
